Intermediate China League 1 results
This season has been difficult and unpredictable. The championship contending teams are having a tough time of it. But don’t give up hope prematurely. We have the final games ahead of us, and we’ll see whether the anticipated China League 1 results match up with reality.
Trouble in China’s teams: will there be a way out?
The troubles in the Chinese Super League have been around for a long time. In the early 2000s teams were actively purchasing new players, but now they have had to abandon this idea. Buying internationals is no longer affordable, and the owners have to rethink their budget allocation.
Guangzhou and Wuhan were the first to suffer negative consequences. Before the championship began, it seemed to many that a well-known team would win the season. However, instead of the expected furore, they had to put up with a failure on the pitch. Guangzhou lost 10 games in a row and found themselves at the bottom of the standings.
As for Wuhan, not everything is easy for them either. Financing problems and a lack of players have taken their toll on the club. League predictions are often gloomy; therefore fans are trying to anticipate how to solve these problems.
One obvious option is to involve investors. Foreign sponsors are not considered, because not everyone dares to cooperate with China. The only hope is that the Chinese players can strengthen their squads and forgo the huge fees to improve their skills.
Current results of the Chinese Super League
An analysis of the situation and the standings allows us to draw a few conclusions. To begin with, it’s worth focusing on the positive achievements of the participating teams. Thus, the review does not go without mentioning:
- Wuhan Tri Towns. The team managed to keep a sufficient number of internationals and cement themselves at the top of the standings. They’re well placed to win the season. They already have 19 wins under their belt.
- Top scorer. The top 10 scorers list includes two Chinese players at once. One of them is deservedly Marcao (27 goals). He plays for Wuhan today and he’s leading his team to victory in the Super League.
- 13 assists. Wuhan remains the main leader this season. That’s because they’ve got not only a potent scorer but also a big-name striker. Davidson has been excellent in assisting his team to win.
The departure of the Legionnaires from the Superleague has not led to an improvement in the quality of play of the local players. The list of the top 10 scorers includes only two Chinese players, with the rest coming from Major League Soccer.
As for the negative results of the current season, Wuhan were not without their fault either. One match was in danger of being postponed, because the club failed to provide the required number of players. This blunder did not affect their position in the standings, and that’s a real achievement.
Guangzhou, the leader, according to the Asian Football Association, has completely failed the season. The club managed to leave a mark in the history of Chinese football through losing matches. The series consists of 10 games that the team has failed to win for various reasons.
Hebei are another failure of the year. Their score is 6 points as the team failed to beat their opponents and found themselves without financial support. A combination of gambling and other mishaps has left the club in last place in the table. “Guangzhou are ranked 17th, which surprises their loyal fans.
